A party is not necessarily a private occasion for a gathering for the purpose of pleasure. With food and beverages, music and dancing, parties are sometimes held in public places for people to attend for an admission fee, For a larger number of guests - receptions, with light refreshments, tea or coffee; are held in a fashion just to mingle. On other occasions, a reception could turn out to be as formal as a state banquet.
